I've seen the same player win 3 games with three completely different strategies. In all cases, getting off to the right start on a strategy was the key. This is not the kind of game where a player can afford to muddle through for half a game before settling on a strategy.
Whichever strategy you select -- corn; building; skull -- advance on the appropriate tech track as soon and as quickly as possible so as to get optimum effect from the bonuses.
